You read the title correctly- this blog post is going to be about my

ex. To preface, I have no ill feelings towards her. I'm super happy for the life she has with her husband. This post is simply me sharing my side of the story, as I remember it.
To protect her identity, let's call her Rachel.
I met Rachel in middle school band class of all weird places. I played saxophone, she played flute. I bring this up because if you don't know the "band social dynamics". Normally, flutes are at the front of the class, while saxes are at the back. That already can tell you a lot about the types of students we were in school.
Rachel had been homeschooled most of her life. I had gone to public school. Understandably, Rachel didn't understand the nuances of public education- such as not asking more than one question during a class period.
These were some of the reasons I initially found this girl to be annoying. However, at the end of middle school. Our friend groups ended up mixing. Rachel and I ended up hanging out some.

Well at the beginning of high school, both Rachel and I had developed feelings for each other. We would talk all the time. One of the things I found most attractive was how she treated my sister. She even came over before a school dance just to dance with my sister.
Our relationship went the way most high school sweethearts went. We broke up junior year of high school. The stress of the fresh pandemic was too strong for the relationship.
Skipping ahead in time, I've seen her a few times since our breakup. I'm grateful for the relationship. She and I are at different places in life. I full-heartedly believe that we made each other better people because of our relationship.
We may not have been in a lifelong relationship, but we didn't need to be. We needed each other during the time we had.
